The Evolution of Galaxy Clustering in Hierarchical Models

چکیده
The main ingredients of recent semi-analytic models of galaxy formation are summarised. We present predictions for the galaxy clustering properties of a well specified ΛCDM model whose parameters are constrained by observed local galaxy properties. We present preliminary predictions for evolution of clustering that can be probed with deep pencil beam surveys.

The Evolution of the Luminosity Function in Deep Fields: a Comparison with Cdm Models
The galaxy Luminosity Function (LF) has been estimated in the rest frame B luminosity at 0 < z < 1.25 and at 1700 Å for 2.5 < z < 4.5 from deep multicolor surveys in the HDF-N, HDF-S, NTT-DF. The results have been compared with a recent version of galaxy formation models in the framework of hierarchical clustering in a flat Cold Dark Matter Universe with cosmological constant. The results show ...

However evidence is growing for the presence of well evolved rich clusters and cluster galaxies at high redshift (above z=0.5-1; Dickinson 1997, Mushotzky and Loewenstein 1997), which sets a key constraint on galaxy evolution models and on structure formation models as well. After IRAS, which proved that starbursts emitted mostly in the infrared (Sanders & Mirabel 1996), ISOCAM is finding a str...

In view of the extensive evidence of tight inter-relationships between spheroidal galaxies (and galactic bulges) with massive black holes hosted at their centers, a consistent model must deal jointly with the evolution of the two components. We describe one such model, which successfully accounts for the local luminosity function of spheroidal galaxies, for their photometric and chemical proper...
متن کاملClustering of Galaxies in a Hierarchical Universe: II. Evolution to High Redshift
In hierarchical cosmologies the evolution of galaxy clustering depends both on cosmological quantities such as Ω, Λ and P (k), which determine how collapsed structures – dark matter halos – form and evolve, and on the physical processes – cooling, star formation, radiative and hydrodynamic feedback – which drive the formation of galaxies within these merging halos. In this paper, we combine dis...
متن کاملEffects of galaxy mergers on the faint IRAS source counts and the background
Binary merging constitutes a complementary mode of galaxy evolution to the canonical hierarchical clustering theory. This merger-driven evolution not only influences the galaxy mass distribution function, but may drive the main galactic activity cycles, such as starbursts and the activity in the nuclei (AGNs). In this paper, we use galaxy aggregation dynamics together with a possible merger-dri...
